One of the forefathers of Eastern Slavonic typographers, engravers and engineers. He was the first typographer in Ukraine who published the first East Slavic Bukvar [Alphabet Book or the ABC]. Fedorov was also a skilled cannon maker and the inventor of a multi-barrel mortar.
